My mum had a small stroke a couple of days before Christmas and was, and is, still in hospital. There is no damage to her brain, her left side is not so good, but improving.

So on the BBC website this morning was a news article about tourist visa times which states that:
A deposit of at least £1,000 to be paid by families who want relatives to visit Britain will also be introduced.
Now this isn’t that specific on whether it’s purely for those who need tourist visas to visit or [...]
