My Little (well, she’s two years younger, but I’ve always thought of us as the same age!) Sis rang yesterday and said she coming down for the day as she is taking some time off before crazy season (she is Admissions Manager at a university… I hope that’s the right title!). So that was very exciting! We don’t get to spend much time together anyway, she lives up in York and when we get together we usually have our blokes with us, which is still nice as they get on really well, but it’s great to have some sisterly time. I’d actually forgotten how much I had missed it until our mum had her mini-stroke and my sis came down and we just hung out, chatting, as we waited for our mum to be discharged from hospital.
I thought it would be nice to go to the park in the morning as I had to wait for the fridge engineer from 1pm onwards. But, trains (and replacement bus services) and Lincoln aren’t great and so she would be arriving too late for a morning walk. It didn’t matter anyway as it the weather forecast was 100% chance of precipitation, and my goodness, did it chuck it down! As well as that, G was/is coming down with something. He had chest pains last night and couldn’t breathe too deeply, but there was nothing else wrong. After a long chat with NHS Direct we were reassured, although we did have him sleep in our room just in case! His chest was fine this morning, but I suspected he was coming down with something even before his temperature went up because he was very cuddly, poor thing. A dose of calpol cheered him up for hours, but his temp went up again late afternoon. I may have to take him to the drop-in at the doctor’s tomorrow, the complete lack of other symptoms is a little worrying!
Anyway, my sis and I busied ourselves with lunch, chat, and camera comparison, as she has just bought a new lens for hers. G helpfully decided to have a run out in the rain at that point so we stood in the doorway taking photos!

Then Sis helped G with his Webkinz games while I prepared some painting activities. G soon got bored and felt miserable so he laid on the sofa watching Cbeebies, snuggled under a blanket, and we had a lovely relaxing time in the conservatory, painting rocks and chatting!

Sis’s are the four at the front.
We then decided to make biscuits (cookies) although there wasn’t much time left before she had to go, and they didn’t exactly go right, they were a shortbread type, but the crumble tasted nice! Reminds me of evenings when we were teenagers and my mum was out at work and my dad was in bed and we would bake terrible choccy cakes!
In other news, it’s apparently the thermostat that’s gone on the fridge and it will need a replacement part, and our veg box had samphire in it which was LOVELY, all salty and delicious! I will admit to opening the bag and saying to the room at large, What the hell is that?!?! Luckily my Sis did!
Did I mention things were lovely today!
